Jack Chisenhall of Vintage Air, really wanted an early hemi in his roadster

It wouldn’t be another small block Chevy and it would fit within the ‘32 hood sides. He dreamed of and then built his roadster around the engine. But Jack, being Jack, wanted every piece to be as trick as possible. How cool would it be to have some one-off lightweight aluminum heads? But one off’s don’t make much sense when you have to do the extensive drafting, pattern and mold making, machining etc involved. So he pulled the trigger and set all the right people in motion and got his 2 heads needed for his car. And about 20 extras. And a batch of new water pump housings that raise the fan up in the middle of the radiator. He also designed and investment cast some nice looking and functional pedals. Long enough for leverage without a need for power brakes in a light roadster. Then he made a beautiful throttle pedal assembly, also cast in 17-4ph stainless steel.

Now in the interest of making a long story shorter, Jack’s roadster won the coveted America’s Most Beautiful Roadster award. Then Jack sold Vintage Air 50 years after founding it. And he decided it might be more fun to travel the world with his lovely wife, than growing another business.

Jack asked us to pick up a pallet of castings and ship a few for him, next thing you know we’re taking over this cool creation of his.

If there’s enough interest we’re happy to keep Jack’s custom heads, pumps, and pedals in production. Be sure to let us know if you’re interested as parts are limited, and production will continue based on interest.
